Owner/Director’s- Noel and Georgeann Corpuel
Noel Corpuel has been at Camp Wayne since 1952 as a camper, counselor, Group Leader, Head Tennis Pro and Head Counselor. A former member of the United States Professional Tennis Association, he was ranked in the E.T.A. He has been directing the Girl’s camp with his wife Georgeann since 1970. Noel is well known in the camping profession for developing the highest standards of staff selection. He currently serves as the President of the Wayne County Camp Association. To say Noel has a passion for camp would be a disservice to him. He truly lives for camping. His creativity and love for children are on display every day at camp, especially when he personally runs many of our All-Camp Evening Activities and Special Events. Georgeann, or “George” as every one knows her, is a warm, loving woman who has been the heart and soul of Camp Wayne for Girls for the past 30 years. While still spending her summers at Wayne and directing our Health Center, George now happily devotes most of her time to her four grandchildren.
Directors/Head Counselor - Matt and Adena Brown
Adena Corpuel Brown grew up at Camp Wayne spending many summers as a camper and also has worked at camp as a waitress, videographer, CIT counselor and Assistant Head Counselor. She played Division 1 Volleyball at the University of Maryland where she graduated Cum Laude in 1993 and also met her future husband, Matt. Her major was Radio, Television and Film. Adena is a third-generation Camp Director during the winter and produces and edits the Camp Wayne Video Yearbook. She is an energetic, dynamic and devoted camp director with camping in her blood. Our campers and counselors love having Adena available to talk with and really appreciate the creativity she brings to every aspect of camp.
Matt Brown came to camp in 1996 with his bride to be, Adena. Their latest creations, daughters Sierra and Riley, are fourth generation Camp Wayners! Matt and Adena have gradually grown into the role of director’s and have added valuable ideas and leadership to the Camp Wayne experience. Well known in camp for his unique sense of humor, Matt is a year-round director, responsible for staff recruiting, pre- and post camp business, dining services, computer I.T, and all around camp fun. He and Adena are the co-commissioners of the Wayne County Athletic Association and Matt is also a Standards Visitor for the American Camping Association.
Director - Ilene Rosenbaum
Ilene Rosenbaum had been a Group Leader for 4 years and an Assistant Director for 8 years and is now a full-time director at Camp Wayne for Girls. She has extensive camping experience as well as many years as an educator in the private and public school setting. Ilene met her husband, Steve, at a camp (he’s also one of our Camp Doctors) and she selected Camp Wayne as the best camp for her 3 girls to attend each summer. Ilene created and now runs a Sibling Sleepover and Rookie Weekend experience which has been very successful at orienting our prospective campers to what it’s like to be a camper at Camp Wayne for Girls. Our campers and counselors benefit from Ilene’s nurturing approach when dealing with problems. Ilene is a great listener and someone who our campers and staff both feel comfortable with discussing personal matters. We have had countless parents tell us how wonderful it is having Ilene as someone they can trust and talk with about their daughter’s Camp Wayne experience.
