![]() The first year campers come to Wayne, they discover the fun of our exciting, original evening activities and special events. Every night offers a new and fun Evening Activity. We average two Special Events a week and have creative games planned for rainy days as well. The costumes, the props, the music, and especially our enthusiastic staff contribute to the success of our classic activities like:
Girls also look forward to co-ed events like: Drama Productions, Halloween Party, Miss Wayne, Carnival, Co-Ed Day, Group Socials, Campfires and Disco Nights. One very special activity that fosters a sense of community is our Friday night Creative Service, which is a time of sharing, reflecting and growing. The whole camp comes together to see and hear a different age group present poems, skits, stories and songs that they have prepared with careful counselor guidance. Groups select their own theme-- such as dealing with peer pressure, positive thinking, making good choices or acceptance of others-- and campers always leave Creative Services with a warm feeling. Each group has a Big Trip at the end of the summer, consisting of a day trip to an amusement park for our younger campers or a two, three, or four day excursion for our older campers to places like Hershey Park, Lake Placid or Ocean City, MD. But the most anticipated event of the summer is our four-day Color War --with emphasis on good sportsmanship, creativity and enthusiasm. Starting with a surprise "breakout," it is a spirit-filled competition that includes sports, dining room decorations, team banners, dances and cheers, songs, skits, Bucket Brigade, Rope Burning, Hatchet Hunt, Apache Relay and Big Sing. We like to think that every day and every evening here is fun -- but these special events are even more spectacular. |
